Follow up!

Even though it has been almost a month, I would still like to follow up with the results of our Spain mission trip. Whether one person has been reading my posts or many, I still want to finalize this blog with a closing post.

After our preparation throughout the week for our presentations at one college and one instituto(we would say high school) we delivered the presentations with a great turn out. At the college named la universidad Pablo de Olavide, we had around fifteen students attend our presentation on social networking.  The best part was some of the students wanted to get lunch with us afterwards! We had lunch with them and connected with them despite the language barrier.  This gave us a great opportunity to show the members of the church and the pastor what we really meant by investing.  Later in the week we gave almost the same presentation at the high school.  We were only given the time they had break so we were concerned because we thought what kid is going to give up their break to watch some presentation about social networks given by Americans.  Despite the doubts, between 30 and 40 students showed up for the presentation.

This trip was very productive and established a relationship with the Church and Schools in the area. There have been sever trips back to Sevilla and Northpoint Ministries continues to partner with Parque Este.

Third day in Spain.

This morning I woke up with more energy and had some very good Spanish breakfast, American style. Afterwards we went to meet with the pastor of the Church here. He shared the story of how they started their church and how it has grown. We went to a member of the
Church, named Nono, and had a barbacoa. Later we had a meeting with the youth leaders and some of the youth members and told them how we do our college ministry and about the living room. It is an entirely different system here as far as how people view Christianity. This brings many problems if which we are just beginning to learn about. Keep praying that we continue to help ParqueEste Church and that they can make a difference here in Sevilla. Keep checking in with the blog to see how the rest of the week goes! WE ARE HERE!

We arrived in Spain at 9:00 AM here which is about 3AM in the states.  Upon arrival we took a bus to the train station and took the train to our destination: SEVILLA! We were greeted by our friends from ParqueEste Church, Pepe and his son Danny.  They helped us find the hotel, we checked in, and then went to their house for lunch.  We spent the rest of the day getting to know them and went to a concert at Parque Este. David Bea was the name of the singer. He was muy excellente, pero I was muy cansado. We met with a ton of the youth at the church and then went to get dinner at a pizza place. I know pizza in Sevilla, but here is the thing it was late (also people in Sevilla don't eat dinner until 2300 horas).

26 Days till I leave for Spain.

On the last Saturday of this month, 4 other students and I will be leaving the U.S. on a mission to Sevilla, Spain.  We will be partnering with a local church there in hopes of impacting the college aged students in the area.  Our goal is to partner with students to lead them into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. To some of you reading you are probably confused about that mission statement but it will become more clear as I have more time to describe it in my blog. Speaking of the blog, I will be using this as a vehicle to update my friends and family on the progression of my trip and really for anyone to read about our venture to Spain.  I hope that some of you will hopefully support me on this trip, we can use all the prayer we can get and also any financial support that you have to offer seeing as neither I nor my team have reached the financial goal yet; as of which I will also be updating my progress on here. Well stay tuned to more updates about the trip and I will post again soon. I have to finish an assignment for class.
